Satna is the most convenient railhead to travel to various places in Madhya Pradesh. The Satna junction is used primarily going to places like Bandhavgarh (120 kms) and Panna(220 kms). Earlier Satna belonged to the Rewa princely state and was known as the area of Baghelkhand. Today it holds the importance as one of the important rail junctions of Madhya Pradesh.
