The Legalities before Flying to India

India offers a unique holiday experience to anyone looking for a different kind of break. If you are one of the many travellers who are drawn to the beauty and wonder of this subcontinent, then here are some of the things you need to secure to make sure your travel abides by their laws.

travel insurance quotes - Obtain travel insurance quotes to determine how much it would cost you to have the financial cover you need while holidaying.

hotel insurance policy - Protect your guesthouse and other accommodation business with the hotel insurance policy from Cornhill Direct Business.

Prepare the requisites and apply for visa.

There are new legal requirements in applying for this official pass, particularly for those applications submitted on or later than January 15, 2010. Although the legal documents needed may vary from one country to another, the following are the most basic papers needed for application.

  1. an original passport that is valid for a minimum of six months
  2. payment for processing fees
  3. two pieces passport-size photos
  4. supporting legal papers, only when necessary
  5. duly accomplished application form
  6. a copy of school diploma or birth certificate

Travellers are advised by travel and immigration experts to avoid submitting the original copies of important files and legal instruments as the Indian Consulate does not take responsibility for original records.

Be sure to check the legal restrictions.

There are parts of the country that require travellers to secure special permits. This includes the north-western part and some of the surrounding islands. If you must fly to one of the restricted areas, you must indicate it in your visa application so a pass can be granted.

You can then send your visa application to offices specified by the High Commission or Consulate General of India.
